Description of Work:

 

Construction of a new headquarters facility for the military in charge of defense for the United States Homeland Security at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Two new buildings join an existing Air Force Space Command facility to comprise an overall “space complex.”   Both structural steel-framed buildings are two stories with basements.  The Army building totals more than 100,000 square feet; the NORAD/U.S. Space Command building encompasses 158,000 square feet.  The design-build contract totals approximately $80 million.

 

Ludvik Electric Co. installed 15KV primary services to double ended substations for redundancy.  Lighting consisted of closely calculated foot-candle levels each use.  Power included normal, emergency, and critical.  Tele/data was the #1 priority for the Protected Distribution Systems (PDS), and consisted of red and black separation.  Each workstation was provided with one (1) voice (CAT 5), three (3) data (fiber), and one (1) spare (fiber).  Other systems included sophisticated fire alarm, security, emergency power, red and black ground system, etc.
