FAST TRACK INDUSTRIAL & CONTROLS

CF&I Steel Rail Bloom Reheat Furnace Facility

Pueblo, Colorado

Description of Work:

The installation consisted of re-feeding a 34.5KV substation and adding two 6.9KV-480V substations through the use of new and existing manholes and ductbanks. Motors, power correction factor capacitors, VFD’s with dynamic braking motor protection panels, programmable logic controllers, motor control centers, power distribution and lighting were installed.

The control system required the calibration, installation, wiring and testing of hundreds of devices. The I/O and control points of this system are tied into existing I/Os and control points via a fiber optic data highway with a redundant copper data highway for local data flow. Included are water-cooled CCTV cameras, which are monitored from a control pulpit, and a Gaitronics communication system.

The walking beam, in-furnace roller and discharge rollers are cooled by two 200 HP re-circulating water pumps with one pump on-line and one in reserve. Numerous other hook-ups were required for vents, fans, HVAC, fire control, water filtering and lubrication systems.

Aircraft warning stack lights were installed as an option on this project.
