Description: The new $200,000,000 Hawai'i Convention Center will be built in the Waikiki area of Honolulu, Hawai'i. This is a design build project with a GMP contract.
The Convention Center consists of 1,200,000 square feet of floor space which includes a 200,000 sq. ft. Exhibit Hall, a 40,000 sq. ft. Kitchen, a 50,000 sq. ft. Ballroom, 100,000 sq. ft. of Meeting Rooms and a level of 800 parking spaces.
Two 4000 Amp and four 3000 Amp 277/480V 3 phase services feed this structure. The designed systems include fire alarm, emergency generator, security,, card access, dimming, lighting control, audio visual and telecommunications.
The design build team has a major coordination effort involving the State of Hawai'i, and the citizen group to incorporate the technologies of the future into this project. The building's architectural theme is "A Hawai'ian Sense of Place", and will incorporate the major cultural, historical and ecological themes of Hawai'i and Waikiki into the design.
