Rockwell FAB 8 - 9

Colorado Springs, CO   

The high-tech fabrication plant for Rockwell Semiconductor Systems, designed to produce micron semiconductor wafers, is known as the 'MegaFab' facility.  

Completed by Ludvik Electric Co. on a design-assist, fast-track basis,
the 449,290 sq. ft. plant includes: 
• 76,100 sq. ft. Class 1 sub-micron clean room
• 224,645 sq. ft shell building for future expansion
• 20,160 sq. ft. Central Utility Building
• Interconnecting Utility Tunnel

Incoming electrical service is 12 million-volt amps at 34,000 volts to a substation yard,
with 15Kv outdoor switchgear - the second largest switchgear ever built
weighing 85,500 pounds.

Mechanical equipment provides airflow in Fab 8 at a rate of 3.5 million cfm
Chillers deliver 2,700 tons of cooling capacity
4 million gallons of water purified weekly
